Natasha Coates is a pride of British Gymnastics!
British Gymnastics is proud to announce that Natasha Coates has been named the Daily Mirror and Sport England Pride of Sports ‘Disabled Sportsperson of the Year’.
The Daily Mirror and Sport England Pride of Sport Awards celebrate and recognize the unsung heroes of sport. As well as raising awareness about sport and encouraging people to be more active on a regular basis, the event also highlights people who have contributed to sport at a local or national level, across all walks of life.
Natasha has been a gymnast for 10 years but was diagnosed as suffering a mast cell disorder after being repeatedly hospitalized two years ago due to a series of anaphylactic reactions. This has not held her back and she is the current All-around British Champion for disability gymnastics. A wonderful achievement!
Natasha was presented with her award at the glitzy London award ceremony.
British Gymnastics Chief Executive Officer, Jane Allen, said: “This is a truly magnificent achievement by Natasha and national recognition well deserved in such an impressive category. This award not only highlights the wonderful accomplishments of Natasha, it also demonstrates that gymnastics is very much an inclusive sport for everybody to take part in and enjoy. From everybody at British Gymnastics, we send Natasha our heart-felt congratulations!”
