Malaysia seeking for talents
Per aspera ad astra!
This is how Malaysian Gymnastics Federation (MGF) sees the rhythmic gymnastics career as they’re eager to create the competitive team, capable to shine at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in four years.
Now MGF convinced the Malaysian states to participate in their project "Road to Rio" to raise level of the development programs “to not just meet but supersede the goal of the project”.
It may be a large order but N. Shanmugarajah (MGF secretary) believes that new talents are the only way forward.
“In any sport, development is crucial. It’s tough but we need to keep replenishing talents to ensure that we always have gymnasts waiting in the wings to progress from state to the pelapis (program) and then to the elite squad,” he said. “We need the states to be more aggressive with their development programs”.
“Participation is the key to the development, scouting and raising of the overall standard of gymnastics in the country.”
In fact, Malaysian National Championships, SportExcel Gymnastics Championships and National Junior Circuits are the competitions that provide Malaysian gymnasts with a perfect platform for their talents demonstration.
Perhaps, we’ll see a new generation of Malaysian rhythmic gymnasts at the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio. Who knows… Don’t give up, Malaysia! And good luck!
